Hydraulic Shearing Machine and Conventional Shearing Ｍachine

A shearing machine is an industrial machine with a turntable and blades that is used to cut hard iron and metal bars. The term "shear" refers to the application of a high pressure tool to a metal bar once to remove a portion of the metal. All metal shears use the same cutting technology, which has a fixed upper blade, a lower blade and an adjustable gap that separates the two. When force is applied to the upper blade, it forces the lower blade to cut the metal in half.

Types of shearing machines

1Table shear

The term table shear is used because the machine is mounted on a table to increase its mechanical capacity. It is used to cut rough shapes of medium sized metals. However, small table shears are equipped with ground blades that are light weight, easy to clean and fast to cut.

2Guillotine

This means that the machine is manually or foot-driven, sometimes mechanically. The material being cut is first squeezed by a ram, a moving blade drops and shears the metal. A power shear consists of a shearing table, a clamping device, a metering device, and lower and upper blades.

3Electric shears

This type of shear is electric and can cut large pieces of metal, regardless of size. Or, they can be powered by a hydraulic system to cut metal that is too bulky for transport.

4Throat

This means that the metal being cut can move freely around the cutting blade, so it is flexible. It is used for complex cuts and curves.
